Título: “Hardware Accelerated Network Traffic Monitoring”.
Ponente: Doc. Ing. Tomáš Čejka, Ph.D. is an associate professor at the Faculty of Information Technology, Czech Technical University in Prague. His primary focus is in the area of high-speed network monitoring and network security. He has founded a Network Traffic Monitoring (NETMON) laboratory that studies current topics of IP flow-based monitoring, traffic analysis and classification, and security threats detection. These topics are discussed in the bachelor course "Hardware Accelerated Network Traffic Monitoring." Meanwhile, Tomáš Čejka works as a senior researcher and team leader at CESNET, the operator of the Czech National Research and Education Network. He has developed a strong collaboration between NETMON and CESNET that helps students work on current research challenges and deliver outcomes to practical deployment.
Abstract: The presentation will discuss several topics from the network traffic monitoring area. There are many challenges affecting the direction of research and development. High-speed network technologies and encryption raise new demands on performance and visibility into the network infrastructure. The presentation will introduce open-source tools for monitoring and analysis that are developed for research purposes and practical deployment in the Czech academic environment. Besides the software tools that are a data source for security analysts, the current research activities target machine learning technology and datasets to overcome the lack of information about network connections.
