International Perspective and Opportunities

The MEIM stands out for its strong international dimension. It fosters student mobility and hosts courses and seminars led by researchers and managers from top institutions worldwide, creating a vibrant and enriching learning environment.

Students have the option to purse a Double Master's Degree in collaboration with international partner institutions:

  • SRH Hochschule Berlin - Double Master in Economics and International Management UGR - SRH Berlín

The University of Granada offers a joint official pathway that combines the Master’s in Civil Engineering (ICCP) and the Master in Economics. Teaching is delivered at the School of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Economics and Business. The joint structure of the programme entails a saving of credits for students, while also broadening the training offer and facilitating further specialization opportunities.

Qualification and professional profile. This Double Master’s Degree not only qualifies graduates to practice as Roads, Canals and Ports Engineers, but also provides a strong training in business management and economics, one of the traditional gaps in the education of engineers today. By integrating both perspectives, students acquire advanced technical competences in civil engineering together with managerial and analytical skills highly valued in both national and international labour markets.

Duration and credit load. The programme is completed over two academic years with a total of 136–156 ECTS, depending on each student’s prior civil‑engineering background and the corresponding credit recognition. Final recognition within this range is decided by the Academic Committee of the ICCP Master.

Languages and delivery. Courses from the ICCP master are taught in Spanish, while courses from the Master in Economics are taught in English. The Master in Economics is scheduled in the morning (approximately 8:30–14:30) to facilitate compatibility.

Structure. Students complete coursework in both programmes, undertake internships, and defend two master’s theses (one for each degree). The theses may address a common topic with prior approval from both academic committees.

Mobility and other double degrees. This double master is fully compatible with our double‑degree pathways with SRH Berlin (Germany) and INSEEC (France) in a three‑year track, as well as with Erasmus mobility, subject to meeting the academic requirements and scheduling of each option.

For the full curricular structure, semester‑by‑semester course sequencing, credit‑recognition tables, and administrative rules, please consult the official programme document.

Basics on European Higher Education Area (EHEA) Official Masters

  • The Master in Economics (MEIM) is an official master’s programme. An official master’s degree is an advanced academic qualification designed to provide specialized training, either for professional development or as preparation for research and subsequent doctoral studies. These programmes are subject to public fee regulations, follow the standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), and are recognized in all EHEA member countries.

  • Yes. Official master’s programmes can differ in their orientation, depending on the specific training objectives they pursue. These programmes may focus on research, professional development, academic training, or combine several of these objectives.

According to their orientation, official master’s programmes are classified as:

    • Professional: Focused on preparing students for professional practice.

    • Research-oriented: Designed for students intending to pursue doctoral studies.

    • Academic: Aimed at providing advanced specialized training.

    • Mixed: Combining more than one orientation within a single programme.

The Master in Economics (MEIM) is a research-oriented master’s programme, designed to prepare students for access to doctoral studies and research careers.

  • Official master’s programmes are organized to cover various learning activities, including theoretical instruction, practical work, and complementary activities such as seminars and projects.

The specific structure of the Master in Economics can be consulted in the Study Plan section available on this official website.

  • Official master’s programmes comprise between 60 and 120 ECTS credits, equivalent to one or two academic years, respectively. A full-time student typically completes 60 ECTS credits in one academic year.

The Master in Economics is structured as a one-year programme with 60 ECTS credits, although students also have the option to pursue double degrees, as detailed in the Presentation section of the website.

  • The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is the standard credit system used across the EHEA. It quantifies the total workload required from students, encompassing:

    • Classroom lectures and practical sessions

    • Independent study

    • Participation in seminars, assignments, internships, and projects

    • Exam preparation and other assessment activities

Each ECTS credit corresponds to 25 to 30 hours of student work.

  • Yes, all courses in the Master in Economics are elective. This allows students to design their academic pathway according to their interests and career goals. However, those who wish to apply for the double degree with SRH Berlin must take certain mandatory courses as part of their curriculum. You can find the list of these required courses in the Mobility section of this website.
