Abstract: Oscillations are an ubiquitous phenomenon in neural and other natural systems. In the brain, they support a range of cognitive processes such as attention, memory or cognitive control. However, it remains relatively unclear how they mechanistically support some of these cognitive processes. In this talk I will present a general overview of neural oscillations, how they are measured and categorized, and some processes or pathologies they have been associated with. I will then present an example of using computational modelling to test specific hypotheses about frontal oscillations and their role in cognitive flexibility.
